Based on the slovak reception of P\u00e9ter Esterh\u00e1zy, it examines the characteristics of canonization in the receiving culture and the role of the artistic translation. central Europeanness is here not understood only as a discursive term organizing\/framing\/shaping the author\u2019s texts, but one that functions also as a figure of reading.
