I take paul ricoeur\u2019s essay on translation as a starting-point of the analysis of the correspondences of translation and interpretation. The analysis focuses attention on the translatable semantic figures of the short story\u2019s emplotment and the untranslatable semantic innovations of metaphorical utterances. The interpretations of Finis and The law of Life characterize the poetical features of a typical form of the fin de si\u00e9cle\u2019s short story.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Keywords:<\/strong> emplotment in short story, reversal in short story, narrative parallelism, counterpart, metaphorical utterance and its translation<\/p>\n
