I take paul ricoeur\u2019s essay on translation as a starting-point of the analysis of the correspondences of translation and interpretation. The analysis focuses attention on the translatable semantic figures of the short story\u2019s emplotment and the untranslatable semantic innovations of metaphorical utterances.
