IN:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>Partit\u00fara Irodalomtudom\u00e1nyi foly\u00f3irat, Volume XVI. , Issue 2, 2021, p. 79-92,\u00a0ISSN 1336-7307<\/span><\/p>\n DOI:\u00a0<\/strong>10.17846\/PA.2021.16.2.79-92<\/p>\n Abstract:<\/strong><\/p>\n The study seeks to investigate intermedial phenomena in Benedek Totth\u2019s novel Holtverseny (Dead Heat), paying particular attention to uncovering the intermedial meaning network of the novel and examining the extent to which media determine narrative. The analysis of the novel is mainly based on the theory of intermediation by Werner Wolf, and begins with an examination of the phenomenon of mediatedness by media and the effects of popular culture. Then, through exploring some of the key motifs and narrato-poetic peculiarities of the novel, the study examines the role of interart phenomena and imitation. Finally, it examines the function of these phenomena in the description of the environment, the dynamics of the plot, and last but not least, the self-image of the narrator and the characters, and their distortions in the description.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
