These, in addition to representations of different cultures and languages, have an impact on the poetic form or narrative structure of texts. By focusing on one of these representations of multilingualism, the latent multilingualism, this paper aims to demonstrate the possibilities that arise when thematising another language that, although not explicitly present on the surface of the language of the text, is still present in a reflexive way. Through a comparative analysis of texts in Hungarian, Romanian and German, the study also highlights the fact that the incidence of latent multilingualism can also be identified as a transcultural phenomenon, through which the problematic nature of linguistic understanding and mediation and its impact on the plot and narrative construction come to the fore.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
