This approach is both influential in the works of B\u00e9la Hamvas, the outstanding figure of Hungarian hermetic philosophy, and in the poetry of S\u00e1ndor We\u00f6res, who considered Hamvas his \u201cmentor\u201d. The paper focuses on those works of We\u00f6res in which the principles of Western esoteric tradition and Eastern philosophy appear as forming a peculiar mixture. His artistic endeavours towards the transcendental can be illustrated by his philosophical prose, A teljess\u00e9g fel\u00e9 (1945) [Towards perfection], and his poems titled The Constant in the Changing (1938) and Song: Boundless Space (1980).
