It examines the texts of The Grim Star (Mogorva csillag) and In Double Space (Kettős űrben) from a stylistic point of view, from a functional point of view as well as from a descriptive point of view. In Tőzsér’s early poetry, the relation between form and content in the first two volumes clearly implied the primacy of the existing set of forms and the use of known verse forms. The study therefore approaches the poems primarily from a formal point of view, the aesthetic analysis being secondary. At the same time, the study also points out the origins and sources of the later development of poetry. We have always kept the inner coherence of the oeuvre in mind, so the study also maps the later volumes and selections. Approaching the turning point in the relationship between form and content, we wanted to list the formal characteristics of the first two volumes alongside the hitherto largely aesthetic criticism. Together, they provide a fuller picture of the poetic practice of the 1950s and 1960s in Czechoslovakia, and of the dilemmas of the early years. The study also examines the oeuvre of representatives of Hungarian-language poetry of the 19th and 20th centuries, pointing to the rich crossreading possibilities of their distinct poetics.

Whole article

Csaba András Sütő IN: Partitúra Irodalomtudományi folyóirat, Volume XIX. , Issue 2, 2024, page 65-88 , ISSN 1336-7307 […]
