Sebald\u2019s famous essay <em>Luftkrieg und Literatur<\/em> (Airwar and literature) focuses\u00a0not only on the traces (and their obliteration) of the systematic airraids of the\u00a0Allies against nazi germany in the collective memory. Sebald asks a number of\u00a0fundamental questions concerning the witnessing of history in literature and literary\u00a0reading. This focus leads him to expound the problems of historical and\u00a0political anthropology in modernity.
