Abstract:
Slovakian Anton Straka has been working as the Czechoslovakian cultural attaché between World War I and World War II in Budapest for 10 years. He organized in Budapest the so-called “Friday nights” and he hosted prominent Hungarian, Czech and Slovakian guests, such as Attila József and Lőrinc Szabó. The result of this Czechoslovakian-Hungarian overture was the Anthology of Czech and Slovakian Poets editing by Straka. Beside of Straka’s cultural organizing work, his translations of literary works were also significant and i would like prove this in my essay, concentrating on the translations of Zsigmond Móricz’s works, especially Be Faithful Unto Death.
