Partitúra is a Hungarian literary journal published in Slovakia twice a year. The first edition was issued in 2006, from 2007 its publisher is the Faculty of Central European Studies at the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. The journal releases peer-reviewed scientific articles, literary studies and art reviews of both Hungarian as well as world literature. Partitúra is the international journal committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. In order to provide our readers with a journal of highest quality we state the following principles of Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement. Agreement upon standards of expected ethical behaviour for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the journal editor-in-chief, the publisher, the peer reviewers and the author.

Duties of Editors

Editors of Partitúra must ensure a fair double-blind peer-review of the submitted articles for publication. They will strive to prevent any potential conflict of interests between the author and editorial and review personnel. Editors will also ensure that all the information related to submitted manuscripts is kept as confidential before publishing. Editor-in-Chief will coordinate the work of the editors. Any kind of unethical behaviour is not acceptable, and the journal Partitura does not tolerate plagiarism in any form.

The editor-in-chief of the journal Partitúra is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The editor-in-chief shall decide on the publishing of contribution in the magazine subject to opinions of reviewers. The editor-in-chief is during the decision process bound by the law of Slovak Republic, particularly by the Copyright Act and the Statement.  The editor-in-chief shall during the decision process assess suspicions of the existence of offensive content, libel, untrue or misleading statements, breach of copyright and plagiarism.

Editorial Board received research papers only on the basis of their academic value, research quality, reviewing reports. The author of the text shall be allowed to correct comments by the reviewers, and shall be granted the opportunity to respond to the complaints. The draft of contribution is deemed to be confidential during the process of assessment. The draft of contribution may not be discussed among editors, reviewers or third parties during the process of elaboration of an opinion, save for the editor-in-chief. Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor’s own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers

Manuscripts received for review are treated as confidential documents and are reviewed by anonymous reviewers. They will not be shown to or discussed with others except the editor-in-chief´s authorization. Reviews should be conducted objectively. Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on content without regard to ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, citizenship, religious belief or political philosophy of the authors. They must ensure that all the information related to submitted manuscripts is kept as confidential and must report to the Editor-in-Chief if they are aware of copyright infringement and plagiarism on the author’s side. They must evaluate the submitted works objectively as well as present clearly their opinions on the works in a clear way in the review form.

Where appropriate, review should contain concerns that author is asked to correct. Review statement should contain the approval to publish the paper or recommendation not to publish- listing the reasons. Reviewer sends evaluation of the review to the editor in order to preserve assessment ethics.

Duties of Authors

Authors of contributions and research studies should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Manuscripts in MS Word must follow the rules of academic style where high-quality grammar and style are essential. Papers should be formatted into A4-size pages, with the title and whole author’s names, abstracts, key words, main text, bibliographic references and professional affiliation. Authors must ensure that they have written original works. When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper. All articles must be submitted using online submission procedure.

The author is entitled to familiarise with the provisions of the opinions on the draft of his contribution. The author is not entitled to familiarise with the identity of the editor or reviewer of the draft of his contribution. Also the identity of the author is kept hidden from the reviewer. In this manner the identity of both the author and reviewer is kept anonymous for them.

Submitting a paper simultaneously to more than one publication at a time is a breach of publications ethics. Copyrights for articles published in Partitúra are retained by the authors, with first publication rights granted to the journal. The journal/publisher is not responsible for subsequent uses of the work. It is the author’s responsibility to bring an infringement action if so desired by the author.
