Abstract:
The theoretical space, in which the concept of transculturalism came into existence, was formed by interculturalism, multiculturalism and postcolonialism. The present study addresses both the need for conceptual clarification as well as the question of why transculturalism was needed as a new framework for interpretation. Furthermore, it seeks to answer the question of why this conceptual shift represents a new perspective in understanding intercultural relations. The study argues that transculturalism can create an opportunity that previous trends did not have.
