Abstract:
The study performs a comparative analysis of Csaba Gábor Trenka’s alternative historical novels Place Rimbaud and La Grande Image. The work is text-centric and has an interdisciplinary focus, while the analysis puts great emphasis on the contrafactual features and inter-genre and inter-medial relations of the novels. In front of the background of lyrical prosaic language, the study investigates the self-reflections, intertextual connections and boundary-crossings as well as the confessionalist nature of the texts through their historical, political and social world-building aspects.
Keywords: alternate history, speculative fiction, strategies of text-organization, worldbuilding, genre self-reflections
