Abstract:

The difference between picturebook stroytelling and any other storytelling method lies in the interrelationship of the sounding text and the still image mode and in this relationship’s fundamentally interpenetrating nature. The study places this specificity in medium historic context, while modelling the characteristics of the storytelling process and outlines the bilateral and scenic nature of the linguistic reception of the visual accompanied by the sound word and the sound accompanied by the image. Moreover, the study states that the institutional education does not exploit the potential of the picturebook’s story transmission, which is based on both the ’old’ sounding text and the ’modern’ multimodal mode.
