Abstract

The present paper focuses on the theoretical questions of those alternate history novels which can be found within the spectrum of speculative fiction. Between the aims of this paper a primary role is given to the comprehensive approach of the genre, such as from philosophy to physics. In addition to the overview of the basic allohistorical texts of world literature (such as works of Dick, Gibson, Robinson etc.) it also deals with the significant achievements of inland alternate history novels (the volumes of András Gáspár and László Gáspár). In conclusion this paper analyzes the most important inland example, which is Csaba Gábor Trenka’s opus: Egyenlítői Magyar Afrika.
