Abstract:
Ilona Márai’s recently published diary entries are fascinating not only for their intrinsic value, but also for the Márai Sándor’s universe as a whole. Márainé also records several seemingly essential moments that explain the history of the development of the homoerotic segments of Márai’s oeuvre. Among the othernesses, this paper focuses on representations of sexual otherness. It examines three sets of texts: homosexual aspects of Márai’s person and oeuvre, the treatment of queer films, books and theatrical experiences, and the presence of otherness in specific contexts.
