Abstract:

In Udmurt children’s literature, along with original texts, translated literature occupies a large place. The purpose of the article is to introduce the factual material of translated Udmurt and foreign language literature from 1917 to the 1980s, which played an important role in the formation and development of Udmurt children’s literature. The works of literature experts are considered, which allow us to present a general picture of the movement of Udmurt children’s prose through the prism of critical assessments. It is established that Russian children’s literature is more translated into the Udmurt language than foreign. Attention is focused on identifying some reasons for the actualization of translation practice.
