Abstract:

One of the defining literary discourses of the last decades can be linked to the phenomenon of transculturalism, its central concepts being migration, globalism, multilingualism and multiple identities. The study addresses the question of whether the theoretical framework of transculturalism can only be applied to the experience and discourse of recent decades, or whether it can be applied and extended to historical formations. Does transculturalism have a historicity and a historical perspective? The first point of reference of the study is a monograph edited by Ladislav Futtera, Václav Petrbok, Václav Smyčka and Matouš Turek. – Jak psát transkulturní literární dějiny [How to write a history of transcultural literature?] (2019), whose studies approach the above question from several perspectives.

Keywords: transculturalism, literary history writing, canon, Hungarian literature outside Hungary
