Abstract:

The present study examines the four poetic tales of Dániel Varró’s children’s book, A szomjas troll (2018), looking back at the lessons and interpretive history of Túl a Maszat-hegyen (2003). The texts of A szomjas troll count on the attention of adults reading out the tale at least as spectacularly as on children’s, as it has been observed by many in the case of Túl a Maszat-hegyen. By text analyses, therefore, I am looking for the answer whether Varró’s volume published in 2018 provides an answer to the dilemmas arising from the duality of the works primarily related to children’s reception, already put forward concerning the “poetic fairy tale” of 2003, and if so, what the response can be. On the other hand, I attempt to point out some characteristic features of poetic tales by the examination of poetic, genre historical, inter- and architextual aspects in the volume, paying special attention to their relationship to the genre traditions of fairy tales
