Abstract:

In the diverse web of culture, the process of symbolization is constantly reproducing itself. The symbol can be viewed as part of a reporting structure that, however, implements its valid meaning in hermeneutic processes. My study interprets the symbolism of apples in a contemporary Hungarian short film. The symbol is ambiguous as a cultural sign that encourages active inclusion. All this allows for further findings. One of these is the origin of the symbol from ancient times and the tension of contemporary art’s urges for innovation and originality.
