Abstract:

The primary goal of the study is to examine the algorithmic signs and medial forms of appearance that form the basis of digital artworks. Based on the theoretical writings of Frieder Nake, a German mathematician, art theorist, and algorithm artist, it starts from the nature and relationship of digital vs. analog visual signs to consider the creation of digital artworks and the medial aspects of their possible interpretation. The research, further developing Nake’s views, takes into account the cultural-philosophical consequences of digitality and argues for the significance of the so-called “third culture” as an attitude of thought defining the era of digitality.
