The paper tries to analyze and interpret the literary work A halál kilovagolt Perzsiából written by Péter Hajnóczy, taking those aspects into consideration, that have been researched by others as well. The paper is segmented into four main  arts. Firstly it deals with alcoholism and smoking as sacred activities, furthermore it analyzes the biblical motifs. After this it attempts to find an answer to the meaning of the visions that accompany the whole literary work, focusing on the  title giver vision. The third part is the analysis of the inter-textual cells, that can be found in the text, dealing with their possible functions in the work. The last part is a comparative analysis between the mentioned literary work and Sadegh Hedayat’s The Blind Owl comparing the common motifs and the search for identity throughout both works. It tries to find those late modern paradigms that can be found in both novels. At last, the paper sums up the peculiarities of Hajnóczy’s novels.
