Abstract

From the point of view of Hungarian literary history, the three most important journals of western Hungarian literature were the Irodalmi újság in London, the Magyar Műhely in Paris and the Új Látóhatár in Munich. the hungarian emigration in the West had ambivalent feelings about the activities of Magyar Műhely (Hungarian Workshop). They had their political, ideological, social and personal reasons to feel that way. In my paper I propose to track down these reasons.
