Abstract:

The study revives the playful translation process of Frigyes Karinthy based on student verse translation. Two short poems will be presented: a Czech contemporary children’s poem by Radek Malý and Sándor Weöres’ Énhasadás. R. Malý’s text was translated into different languages, while Énhasadás only into the Czech language. The presented examples also show the more general tendencies of verse translation: enlargement (more syllables) and the increase of expressiveness and emotional tone.
